Advanced Networking Sales Rising Sharply

The sales of VoIP, media gateway, and other next-generation networking (NGN) equipment have risen sharply in the past few months, as telecommunications continue to move into the world of advanced network services.

According to the Dittberner Associates research firm, shipments of NGN equipment were up an impressive 70% in the third quarter. Revenue didn’t manage to keep up with the rise in total sales due to increased pricing pressures, but they did manage a more than decent 49% worldwide increase.

The bulk of this increase took place in emerging markets such as Asia and Latin America, and with continued growth expected in these markets, analysts don’t see this trend slowing down anytime soon.

“With the acceleration of large scale projects by carriers to upgrade their packet networks, we will see visible continued growth worldwide in terms of VoIP port shipments in the upcoming quarters,” said Dittberner researcher, Leena Deshpande in a statement
